1 July 2009 UPDATE Just a quick note to let you know that my surgery went well and now I am working at getting my strength back so I can again lift those coffee bags and cases of wine. I appreciate all your good thoughts and look forward to seeing you all on the 28th of July. Now, I know I won't be hitting the ground running on that day, so Betse will be here to help me. Even though I will start roasting coffee again, it will be a modest amount to get back going...so please keep that in mind. Thanks for all your good thoughts and best wishes. It has been very much appreciated. Lin.

Dear Friends,
I am writing to let you know that "Upson's" will close temporarily from Friday, June 26th to Tuesday, July 28th. A medical situation has presented itself and requires that I have surgery.
For 27 years, one of the BEST things about being a small shop, is our daily attention to great service, great products, and getting to know each and every one of you - personally.
The down side of being a "small shop" is at times like this. Since continuity of service is very important to me (and not wanting to thrust all this on the great staff who you know here), I have chosen to temporarily close and allow myself time to rest and recover.
In the meantime - please come in and "stock up" your needs for the next four weeks (and help us clear the cooler!)
I'm sorry for such short notice, but appreciate your understanding and good thoughts.
